help with creating background in photoshop

I've been creating "fliers" that we will host and then post on our website, as well as print out. Once I make the psd a jpg (which I have to do to host) some of the font is blurry (especially the smaller fonts). It also prints blurry even before it is converted. Do I need a higher/lower resolution? Is there something else I can do?

Please help I have been creating backgrounds in Photoshop then adding the font in word.
