Ad-aware SE is for NT based OS' and Win9x/ME and no longer automatically updates. You have
to manually update that version. At some point it is expected all support for Ad-aware SE
will be dropped and won't even allow manual updates.

Ad-aware 2007 and the latest version, Ad-aware 2008, are for Win2K and above only due to
their dependency on NT Services.

Note also that the "Pro" versions perform "On Access" scanning to prevent being infected
with adware/spyware while the "SE" or personal versions perform only "On Demand" scanning
and remove not prevent adware/spyware infections.

I'm sorry but I don't understand fine. I have read the specifications
but I don't understand if Ad-Aware 2008 has an integrated antivirus.
I'm using NOD32. Have I unistall it?
Thanks for info.

Do NOT (repeat NOT) uninstall NOD32, that would be very unwise.

NOD32 is one of the very best antivirus products available and has been
so for some years.
http://www.av-comparatives.org/seite...ummary2007.pdf

Ad-Aware is know as an antispyware product.
Why Lavasoft (Ad-Aware) now adds an "antivirus protection" is a mystery.
(probably some commercial reasons)

Lavasoft is completely new to the antivirus world, so nobody knows how
Ad-Aware antivirus will work (will it work?).
So please ignore the "antivirus" part of Ad-Aware, you will not need
that at all.

In your original posting, you never told us, why you would want to use
Ad-Aware, I guess you are looking for antispyware for private use.

If you are looking for good antispyware software, take a look at:

- SuperAntiSpyware Free Edition 4.1.1046
http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html
(the bottom one of the two possibilities)

- Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
(do not buy, but just download, this is free for private use)

The free version of these two products can be quite sufficient for the
average home user, along with some "safe hex".

Re: What difference between Ad-Aware SE Personal and Ad-Aware 2007 Pro?

THANKS very much for your advice. Yes I like to use a very good
antispyware software. I get many spywares every days and I need one
very good.
I usually use Spybot - Search & Destroy and AD-Aware.
Do you think SuperAntiSpyware is better than AD-Aware?
thanks

I think that SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes together
are better than AdAware and Spybot together.
But why don't you keep Spybot along with SAS and MBAM?

For real-time protection have a look at
- SpywareTerminator 2.2.1.433
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Spyware_Terminator_d5242.html
http://www.spywareterminator.com/download/download.aspx
(also freeware)
N.B. this program has a toolbar, which I did not want to install.
(I am opposed to all toolbars)

For more passive defense against spyware:
- SpywareBlaster 4.0 (free)
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
This is mainly for IE users, I use Firefox and do not use
SpywareBlaster.

- (Comodo) BOClean 4.26 (free)
http://www.comodo.com/boclean/boclean.html

If you want more .....
http://www.filehippo.com/software/antispyware/
(freeware)
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html
(freeware and payware)

Sure!!!
I have just done a scan with SuperAntiSpyware and it have found 108
infected files, My surfing in Internet was very slow and now it is OK.

I am afraid it slow down my surfing in Internet.
In your opinion is it better SpywareTerminator 2.2.1.433 or Spybot
along with SAS and MBAM?

THANKS FOR YOUR PRECIOUS NEWS.

Are you using Internet Explorer? If so try using Firefox. There are many
add-ons to increase protection (NoScript and AdBlocker to name 2)

Unless you are using "TeaTimer",spybot is not a real-time scanner.
SAS pro has a real-time scanner-the free version does not.
MBAN does not have a real-time scanner either.

You should look into using a sandbox while you are surfing.
http://www.sandboxie.com/

look-take the easy way out. Create a clean install image. After playing
around a week or so, just restore to your clean image.

Congratulations.
More people had reactions just like you.
(SAS found files not found by Ad-Aware and Spybot)

I use SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and SpywareTerminator
only to do a regular (weekly) scan, I do not use any of them for
real-time protection.
I do not use Ad-Aware and Spybot any more, as I explained before.

But try for yourself.
Run scans with all programs, one at a time.
You can do that, while doing other work on your computer.

If program A has completed the scan, you can start program B, etc.
If you would do that, you can find out for yourself, which programs
perform best for you and which you like.
Keep at least two, but three is also good, because you can always run
them after each other.

But as David H. Lipman told you:

Practice "Safe Hex"
The *best* protection is YOU... not software.
