Free AntiVir vs Free BitDefender

I am willing to install free antivirus in my system and after a lot of research Ive narrowed down my option to AntiVir and BitDefender. I just want to know which one is best amongst these?? Any suggestion will be appreciated.

I will suggest you to go with BitDefender rather than AntiVir, i have come across many people who have mentioned that there's always an issue in installing updates for AntiVir. I havent used AntiVir but i have been using BitDefender from a month and it works great, i haven't faced any issue using it.

Antivir is good but the only thing that i hate is the nag screen that keeps up poping while installing updates. Anyways if you can compromise with that then i will suggest you to get Antivir. You can get rid of the nag screen by disallowing avnotify.exe with the security policy editor or by using firewall.

+1 for Antivir from me, i have recently upgraded to Avira 9 and i am totally satisfied with it's performance. In order to get rid of nag screen you can take ownership of (avnotify.exe) and delete all permissions for that file. Once you do that nobody will have permission for running avnotify.exe and you wont get the nag screen after that. You can also write a batch file for deleting avnotify.exe at startup and its schedule.
