Is RockXP known to be malware? (PWDump, Hacktool?)

I got one small utility that is provided by my friend. It is rockxp.exe. It is detected a virus. my antivirus shows it as some hacktool.ah. I just want to know that does this is a malware. There can be chances that ample of antivirus are generating fail positive messages. It can be a hoax also. I need some help in using this safely on my Windows XP system. I cannot use until I am completely satisfied that it is not a virus.

I think that is a malware. You can find a short report on web based on each virus result on this .exe file. It cannot be a fake alert. If the file is save, then the antivirus will not report it all. I am using McAfee. I had submitted this file to find the info which says that the file contains some kind of malicious code. It is also necessary that you must download the website from a trusted sources. You cannot just get that from anywhere. It is possible there are different version of same file around the web.

I am a student of ethical hacking and I came across such files. I had downloaded two files recently which is rockxp and keyfinder. I am also using Windows XP. This files are used for some project work. This is some kind of manipulation program. If the application does not has proper information it might be detected as harmful but the risk level will be low. There is no way you can go with some advance software which will give you details of its internal code.

There can be a infection depending on the file you have. I am not sure from which place you can get that file safely. Just keep your antivirus updated and do not ignore the files. Or else they might spread infection in your system.
