| Help with eliminating 360 virus!
A friend of mine was told that he has the 360 virus. And I have seen several methods on removing it from Google. However, when he boots up, he cannot get into Windows, Safe Mode or anything. I screen pops up asking if you are the home user or administrator and no matter what you do, the screen immediately refreshes and you see the same thing. I tried F2, F8, and no changes I tried worked. I cannot get into safe mode, nothing. Going to last known good configuration will not work. Actually since it will not go beyond the screen I mentioned above, I cannot start any program. What should I do and how? Are there any reliable removal tools that can do it and how can I get it to work if I cannot get into windows? Please help, Marcus |

This may only be partially successful and just a small opportunity to recapture personal & uninfected files for the last time. Your friend should also be prepared to flatten and rebuild from their backups. Please update this thread with you friend's progress. Pete -- 1PW @?6A62?FEH9:DE=6o2@=]4@> [r4o7t] |

Your friend could try http://bughunter.it-mate.co.uk BugHunter is a DOS based malware scanner which has a frequently updated database of signatures as well as engine updates. The program is designed to quickly scan for and optionally disable/remove any malware found. BugHunter is able to detect Browser Hijackers (BHO's), Rogue programs, Adware, Keyloggers, Spyware (including some commercial ones), Rootkits which are file based, malicious java/html/vb scripts, and various worms. **************** The author, Dustin Cook, is now one of the leading lights of the team at Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/ I *have* tried it - running from a 3.5 inch Floppy disk. Download my new userinit fix from here http://www.ms-mvp.org/ this file works for SP2 and SP3 only. READ the enclosed instructions. If you have SP1 do not use this file. If you need any other version then email me using the link at the bottom of my webpage. Your issue is caused by a malware infestation. Once fixed you will need to use my Remove-it software, it will remove that malware from your system. Choose yes for all options when prompted. Download it here http://www.ms-mvp.org/ -- The Real Truth http://pcbutts1-therealtruth.blogspot.com/ *WARNING* Do NOT follow any advice given by the people listed below. They do NOT have the expertise or knowledge to fix your issue. Do not waste your time. David H Lipman, Malke, PA Bear, Beauregard T. Shagnasty, Leythos. I find it interesting that they both start with this line: "1) Put the Windows Vista [or XP] installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer." How many people actually have a "Windows Vista [or XP] INSTALLATION disk? Not many. -Frank |
