How to know the Primary Domain Controller.

There are right now 3 domain controllers with us. We have added 2 of them over the past year as secondry controllers. The primary DC is old and has to be taken off of the network. But, with 2 other domain controllers on the netwoek, which one will be the primary domain controller after the current one is demoted? All of those are currently all handling domain logins. Any ideas?

You can try to view and transfer FSMO roles in Windows Server 2003. Check the below link that describes how to transfer Flexible Single Master Operations (FSMO) roles (also known as operations master roles) by using the Active Directory snap-in tools in Microsoft Management Console (MMC) in Windows Server 2003.

Thanks for the replies. But both of the other servers are in the Global Catalog list and DNS is running on both servers as well. Will it be alright if all clients including the other servers point to the one DC or can each server point to itself for DNS? I am planning on running dcpromo once I am ready to take it off the network.
