| Active Directory Migration Tool User Migration Renaming Display nameTarget Domain
3.0 . The migration works smoothly and all is well with one exception. Our target domain display names are set to first initial last name (jsmith). The source domain is set to First name Last Name (John Smith). The user accounts exist in both domains and it is an interforest migration. I run the ADMT and migrate the users SID History, update user rights, and fix group membership. Under Object property exclusion everything is excluded . Upon completion of the migration the Target common name has been change from jsmith to John Smith. Because of internal process that happen the name needs to stay as jsmith. How do I go about stopping the ADMT from making that change. I've tried the option file with the line item RenamOption=DONT from the command line but it doesn't seem to work. It yields the same end result. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

You can prevent ADMT to copy the content of certain attribute, like displayName for example. BTW, one thing I don't get is if your user accounts already exists in the destination domain, why don't you use SID mapping? |

| Re: Active Directory Migration Tool User Migration Renaming Displayname Target Domain
I'm using the ADMT v.3 and I'm not sure how to create a SID mapping file. I see a bunch of articles that tell you to use the SID mapping file but nothing pointing me towards how to create it. I've found the script referencing the Microsoft.Jet engine but that is based on the server running access. The 2003 server has SQL agent on it and I don't know the syntax for pulling the information. Do you happen to know how to pull from a 2003 server running ADMT? |
