| The Active Directory is rebuilding indices, please wait
“The Active Directory is rebuilding indices, please wait” Its been about 2 hours and the screen is still stuck there itself. I’m afraid if anything goes wrong because it is very important server running with AD and Exchange. Will it be ok to uninstall the recently installed security updates? Or is there any other way of getting out of this problem? Please help. |

That’s weird, it should not take such a long time for rebuilding indices. Did you checked your Event Log before this happened? Was there anything listed? Anyways, the very first thing you should try is check and post back if there is anything listed in the Event log, especially the system log. Secondly can you tell me if there was anything going on before that message appeared or before you applied the Windows Updates? |

Thank you very much for the help Sulolab. Can you just tell me how can i check the Event Viewer when i clearly said that the screen is yet stucked in the boot up process? Do you want me to cancel this update process and boot into safe mode? If yes, are you sure it will not create any problem as i said this server is very important and we have its backup for only one week? |

The message you're getting during the boot up could mean several things. What you can do is Go in eventvwr - start>run>eventvwr and check the Directory Services event log in particular. |
