GPUPDATE - Failed to refresh use policy

We are running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 DCs. On some of DCs, whenever I try running gpupdate, I use to get the following error message everytime:

"Failed to refresh user policy. Error - The system cannot find the file specified."

I don’t know what could be the reason for this because machine policy refreshes fine, there is no problem. Can somebody please tell me what is the cause of this error and how can I get rid of the same?

    Many thanks.

We just like even I’m not able to get the cause of that problem, reading your post. SO before I can suggest anything, can you please tell what happens if you delete the user account under documents and settings?

RE: GPUPDATE - Failed to refresh use policy

What operating systems are your Client PCs running? If they are on Windows XP or 7, are thy in same OU or different OUs? Also is the same group policy linked to these both operating system? Until you reply just make sure that if you are defining a secure screen saver via this GPO "Screen Saver Executable Name" then ensure that the *.scr file is under %systemroot%\system32 directory or define the path to the file in the GPO.
