A health-check script for Active Directory on Win 2000/2003

    Hi Fellows !

Can you please refer me to any kind of a script / thin utility that can
review all aspects of Active Directory operation and notify if all is OK or
if there are any major issues ?

I am ware that one can use replmon and other command line utilities to
manually check for the status, but I am more interested in a script that can
    be ran automatically.

    Thanks,

    Jack

If you're a premier support customer speak to your TAM. MSFT offer a service
whereby a DSE will come into your organisation and perform a health check.
They will leave the ADST tool(s) that they use with you for future use too.

Basically, the tool is a .NET app that runs a host of .EXE and .VBS files
and logs all of the output and provides output to you on whether or not all
    is well.

Otherwise, you have to do this manually using a combination of tools. The
essentials are DCDIAG, NETDIAG, FRSDIAG, REPADMIN/ REPLMON, GPOTOOL, PERFMON,
    etc.

This is what Paul is referring to:
    http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...0t_English.pdf

I have performed the Active Directory Risk Analysis Program (ADRAP) twice on
a large scale multi domain environment and I must say I was very very very
impressed with the tools. Since the ADRAP program is constantly under
development, the tools will get better and better. It is definitively worth
    the investment.

As a bonus, you will get very detailed tutoring on how to improve your
    performance and/or reliability.

RE: A health-check script for Active Directory on Win 2000/2003

Question is if there is a free script to do this, as I am not sure
we will soon have this service available since those are QA test domains we
    are setting.

Re: A health-check script for Active Directory on Win 2000/2003

There's no single script. The check is a combination of a host of
troubleshooting tools. It uses many of the support and resource kit tools.
So, if you want to do this yourself, you have to manually use those tools.
This is fine. This is what many people are doing anyway.

    I'd start with the following:

    DCDIAG
    NETDIAG
    REPLMON/ REPADMIN
    NLTEST

NetPro's Directory Troubleshooter is pretty good too. I'm not sure about
    the cost of that mind.
