    ADAM Replication Error

I got an issue with 2 windows 2003 server with adam sp1. The issue is that on this server when I try to open adsedit and connect to another one LDAP server with the "netbios name" then it will not work and give me error message "The target principal name is incorrect", when I try with the ip address the connection works properly but? When I am trying to create a object on this server the replication will not work, and i am getting the below error in event viewer:

    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: ADAM [instance-3] KCC
    Event Category: Knowledge Consistency Checker
    Event ID: 1308
    Date: 13/02/2007
    Time: 19.24.29
    User: NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON
    Computer: LDAP03
Description: The Knowledge Consistency Checker (KCC) has detected that successive attempts to replicate with the following directory service has consistently failed.

    Can anyone please help. Thanks.

I guess that your Servers are not able to reolve the NetBios name from each other, it will cause the replication to fail. I recommend you to first check the following information given below:

    1. First of all check the ping NetBIOS name of one problematic Server, to see if it work fine. Aftert that check 2 Servers.
    2. Now you have to type \\<NetBIOS name>\shared folder in run, to see if it can access another Server.
    3. After that try to open services manager console, check the TCP/IP NetBIOS helper service started.
    4. Now you can try to right-click NIC and select properties, click to select TCP/IP protocol, click properties, click WIN tab, make sure "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP" or "Default" options is checked.
    5. After that check if there is firewall between 2 Servers?

Thanks for responding, I have checked for the point 1>4 and everything is ok and working and between the server there is no firewall, the server are on the same subnet. I will also tried to reset account machine and rejoin but the error still comes up.

    Re: ADAM Replication Error

    hi guys!

    I have the same problem here... my one site domain controllers are not replicated with other sites. where as, they are properly replicate within site (Intrasite). I run the steps mentioned by MIKE LU (MFST), which are;

    1. Ping NetBIOS name of one problematic Server, to see if it work fine.
    Please check 2 Servers.
    2. Type \\<NetBIOS name>\shared folder in run, to see if it can access
    another Server.
    3. Open services manager console, check the TCP/IP NetBIOS helper service
    started.
    4. Right-click NIC and select properties, click to select TCP/IP protocol,
click properties, click WIN tab, make sure "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP"
    or "Default" options is checked.
    5. Is there firewall between 2 Servers?[/COLOR]

on remote sites, my 2nd test is failed and i am unable to access shared folders by net-bios name. i recevied the follwoing error while accessing shared folders by net bios name: " Logon Failure: Target name account is incorrect".

    kindly help me out!
