| Windows 2000 pro client login error
This is a weird problem we have starting getting on a few of our 2000 pro client machines. Our set-up is as follows. 2 Win 2003 domain controllers using active directory. Our desktop is Win 2000 with SP4. at logon:- Windows cannot copy file C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Application Data\PCHealth\ErrorRep\QSignoff\ to location C:\Documents and Settings\jbarclay\Local Settings\Application Data\PCHealth\ErrorRep\QSignoff\. Contact your network administrator. DETAIL - Access is denied. And then I get:- Windows cannot log you on because the profile cannot be loaded. Contact your network administrator. DETAIL - Access is denied. And then it throws me back to the logon prompt. Has anyone come across this before? |

From the looks of this error, I'd say it's not really anything to do with AD ;-) Check the permissions on the default user profile folder. You need to ensure that EVERYONE has read permissions to this folder. Is it possible that you've recently copied an existing profile to this folder, or changed permissions higher up and forced them to propagate? -- Paul Williams http://www.msresource.net/ http://forums.msresource.net/ "jpfanc" <jpfanc@gmail.com> wrote in message news:%23StwvFwAFHA.3940@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... | Re: Windows 2000 pro client login error
I found that there was a folder created under C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Application Data\PCHealth that did not have the correct permissions on it. I believe this folder is created if a machine crashes..but I am not sure. To resolve the issue I deleted the folder and all it's contents and users are now able to login again.
