| Compatibility with Active Directory 2008 & 2008 R2
Just a general question for the group. Has anyone had any software compatibility issues moving from 2003 to 2008 AD. Some fear has popped up and it stems from us moving both forest and domain function levels to 2008. All DC's are 08 but running in 2003 mode. I have only heard of a couple applications that will not work in a 2008 domain unless you upgrade to "their" latest software version. Same with 2008 R2. |

I have a SAN that the firmware needs to be upgrade before I can move the DFL/FFL up to 2008. We have run into many pieces (Especially legacy) when going forward, so as we have retired hardware we have been forced to stay on 2003. AV, Backup,etc... were horrendous in getting upgraded support. -- Paul Bergson MVP - Directory Services MCTS, MCT, MCSE, MCSA, Security+, BS CSci 2008, 2003, 2000 (Early Achiever), NT4 Microsoft's Thrive IT Pro of the Month - June 2009 http://www.pbbergs.com Please no e-mails, any questions should be posted in the NewsGroup This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. i guess the best way is to get a list of all hardware and software and get in touch with the vendor to make sure we can move forward with the what we have. I wish it was as easy as flipping a switch :) |

Wouldn't that be nice. Just a warning, most vendors I have run across make up a lot of excuses on why you can't move forward, as if their software was being used to maintain airtraffic control.
