Assigning software using GPO

I am working in a windows 2003 enviornment
I tried to assign adobe acrobat reader which is in MSI format to a OU.
I created the GPO and then linked it to the respective OU.

When I log in from the client side the software does not get installed eventhough it shows installing software while logging in before the desktop comes (Client side)

Please help

Thanks in advance

Re: Assigning software using GPO

Check the software installation status from RSOP (Run RSOP.MSC).
Go to the User/Computer Configuration, whichever applicable, properties, and there you'll find the status.
If everything looks good, then try enabling the Userenv Debug Log to get it in more details. KB: 221833
Put a computer and a user in test OU and test it again.
Check with any other MSI package is see if you get the same behaviour.

Check whether the User Configuration/Computer configuration side on the
GPO is disabled in GPMC.

I got this message from the application log from event viewer.

Software Installation encountered an unexpected error while reading from the MSI file \\Server\Sales\advinst.msi. The error was not serious enough to justify halting the operation. The following error was encountered: The operation completed successfully.

When I Checked in Rsop.msc
The computetconfiguraton had a X mark in red

When U checked its properties I got the following error messgage

Group Policy Infrastructure failed due to the error listed below.
The system cannot find the path specified.

Note: Due to the GP Core failure, none of the other Group Policy components processed their policy. Consequently, status information for the other components is not available.
Additional Information:
Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO CN={6AC1786C-016F-11D2-945F-00C04fB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=INDIA,DC=COM. The file must be present at the location <\\INDIA.COM\sysvol\INDIA.COM\Policies\{6AC1786C-016F-11D2-945F-00C04fB984F9}\gpt.ini>. (The system cannot find the path specified. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. Check the event log for possible messages previously logged by the policy engine that describes the reason for this.

I manually checked the path and as stated in the error , I was nto able to find the path.
