| Unable to access map drive across domain after pc reboot
Hi, I have a customer who have two domain. Domain A and Domain B. Both are a two-way domain trust. A few user in Domain B can access the file server in Domain A and it will prompt for a password so that it can be authenticated. The issue right now is that when user reboot the client machine, user will get access denied to the share folder of the file server instead of a "PROMPT" to request use for creditial. Currently, the workaround solution is to disconnect all map drive and connect it again. It will prompt to enter user id and password but after we reboot the PC and try to access it , it will have access denial and we have repeat the procedure. How can we make it to ask for user name and password every time? |

Chris - this indicates that users from Domain B connect to the server in Domain A using alternate credentials. Since you have trust relationship in place, you should be able to grant permissions to Domain A resources directly to Domain B users/groups. This will eliminate both prompts and access denied messages... hth Marcin "chris" <chris@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:114DFF3A-EAE0-4E18-B19C-B2368F2032B3@microsoft.com... > Hi, > > I have a customer who have two domain. I would agree with Marcin It sounds like you have a user with the same id in both domain A and B, which isn't using the trust relationship up to its true potential. Set up the trusting domain with the id from the trusted domain thereby eliminating the request for the credentials. This also makse it easier for users since they only have to manage 1 id between the two domains. -- Paul Bergson MVP - Directory Services MCTS, MCT, MCSE, MCSA, Security+, BS CSci 2008, 2003, 2000 (Early Achiever), NT4 Microsoft's Thrive IT Pro of the Month - June 2009 http://www.pbbergs.com Please no e-mails, any questions should be posted in the NewsGroup This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
