Disconnected ADAM Replica Instance

Hi,

I need to create an ADAM TEST Instance from my ADAM DEV Instance. TEST
Instance should contain all data of DEV Instance, but

It needs to get updated ONLY when scheduled. (Scheduled Data Synchronization)

It should NOT update the DEV Instance unless initiated. (Bidirection Optional)

I went through this post.
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...?prof=required

and also links mentioned in that post.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...92(WS.10).aspx
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...65(WS.10).aspx

I was able to find scheduled transfer of data.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...90(WS.10).aspx

I tried to create a testing Instance and tried scheduling it. But I can see
the changes reflecting immediately, and not at the scheduled time. !

Also, Can you please help me how to make Bidirectional Data Transfer between
2 ADAM instances Optional? Or is there anyother way to accomplish this?

RE: Disconnected ADAM Replica Instance

I am trying to find out how to do ADAM Instances in Dev,Testing and Prod
machines, where

- All 3 should contain the same data.
- Should not be synchronized all the time.
- Should be able to synchronize at time specified.
- Should be one directional (ie., Dev - Testing, Dev - Production). The
changes should not be made bidirectional.

I happened to analyse from yesterday and find out the solution for the first
3 bulletins.

Soultion is: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...90(WS.10).aspx
After doing as mentioned in the above link, restarted the adam instance, in
component services (admin tools), I am able to create a replica, that is not
sync with Dev all the time and I am able to sync at time specified.

I am looking for information on how to make the changes happen
uni-directional.

Re: Disconnected ADAM Replica Instance

Hi

one possibility is to look at using repadmin /options to disable
replication.
That having been said I would not recommend this approach - for customers
that want to maintain a dev environment I recommend taking a backup
of the production server and restoring to a desiganted dev environment.

Re: Disconnected ADAM Replica Instance

Thanks Lee. Thought of confirming between BackUp/Restore and Schedule Options.

Will try backup and Restore and revert if any queries. Thanks agaain.
