| Mapped Drives using Group Policy Issue
I have tried mapping drives from a Win 2008 domain on XP clients w/some success using both a logon script and "drive maps" in a GP on the server. I was using the "drive maps" option 1st and whenever i change the description of the drive "shared on fileserver" to "diffname on fileserver" the display would continue to read "shared on fileserver" in windows explorer @ the client, after disconnecting the drive and rebooting many times I could get the description to change. Now I'm calling a logon script and I can't get rid of the description I used earlier w/drive maps. If I drop to dos and type net use everything is correct. However in explorer displays are incorrect. Please advise. |

I used the gp preference to map drives. After changing the description using the gp preference and not seeing the description change at the client(in explorer) I decided to use a logon script to map the same drives with different descriptions. However, the mapped drives are displaying(in explorer) with the same label that I used in the gp preferences. If i drop to dos and type "net use" i see the drives display with the correct names but explorer displays incorrectly.
