IE proxy settings are not applied from GPO

From last couple of week, the proxy settings distributed through GPO are not applied to users. I am able to check all the things like RSOP, gpresult, gpotool, etc; and everything seems to be working fine, it shows that settings was properly applied but it was not. The "use of proxy" is not checked and exceptions are missing. Any ideas? Thanks.

You can try to enable the "process, even if.. have not changed" policy by going into CompConf > AdmTemp > System > Group Policy and then "Internet Explorer Maintenance policy processing" and it will be there.

I have now found out the problem that was in IE exceptions, on of the links had more tne 2 slashes ( "/"). I noticed this inside one article while searching, it said that, when there is a link with more than 2 slashes, then the proxy settings are not applied properly or they are not applied.

I faced the same problem today. After trying everything from disabling various GPOs (including Default Domain Policy), forcing to update Proxy Settings even it is not changed, and so on... I have concluded that this problem was raised after I have added new exception to the Proxy Settings, the new exception included two symbols " /* ", which caused Proxy Settings not to apply AT ALL !!!

when I removed the slash symbol, everything got work as usually !


It seams that IE didn't accept two or more special symbols in the Exceptions field. Moreover, in this case, it doesn't apply Proxy Settings at all !!!
