| how to populate custom attributes
We need to add some information such as employment #, office stop # in AD for all users and plan to use those pre-defined custom attributes (1-15). HR will provide the information. How can I import them properly? I guess I have to associate user CN to each attributes then use LDAP (script or ldap import)? Can I also use this process to update other attributes such as office address? BTW. Is it possible to make some costome attributes visible as a new tab under user account properties? Also can make them visible in Exchange global address under user properties? Thansk. |

Chris, Its not a direct answer to your question, but EmpowerID http://www.thedotnetfactory.com/ makes it easy to extend the AD directory in the way you are describing Anthony http://www.airdesk.com "Chris" <Chris@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8AD1CDC7-F515-4366-BCEC-F9A59C93CA2C@microsoft.com... > We need to add some information such as employment #, office stop # in AD > for > all users and plan to use those pre-defined custom attributes (1-15). Is there a CSV list or Excel list you can use? > BTW. Is it possible to make some costome attributes visible as a new tab > under user account properties? Most of the time, people found it'd be cheaper and less resource intense to code a custom application that would allow to alter these information rather than hooking the default MSC; but that might depend on how skilled your dev folks are. I found this tool, Bulk AD Users at http://www.wisesoft.co.uk/. Very good and free. I tested the export function. Will test import with update using csv.
