Updating MS-Windows 2003 DC to Windows 2008

Dear All,

We are having Existing Windows 2003 Domain Controller on Server1 and we are
using MS-Exchange 2003 on Server2 and MS-Sharepoint 2003 on Server3, Now if
we try to Upgrade from Windows 2003 Domain Controller to Windows 2008 which
is present on Server1, What will be the possible failure i have to face?

Your suggestion is really appreciated.

Thanks & regards,

Re: Updating MS-Windows 2003 DC to Windows 2008

Hello -Arjun-,

If everything works fine, nothing. Make sure you have a backup at least from
the DC's system state, so that you can restore it. If you have the option
to use a temp machine as additional DC i would choose this option. Add a
second 2003 DC, make it DNS and GC move the 5 FSMO roles, check with dcdiag
/v, netdiag /v and repadmin /showrepl for problems. If everything is fine
demote the server that you like to upgrade from the domain and make a fresh
install with 2008 instead of doing an inplace upgrade.

Best regards

Hello -Arjun-,

There shouldn't be a problem. Exchange 2003 should have installed SP2 for
exchange.

You shouldn't have any problems at all. It will be a non-event.

Re: Updating MS-Windows 2003 DC to Windows 2008

Hello -Arjun-,

All i can find is stating about upgrading sharepoint server to 2008. So i
think there shouldn't be an issue.

But i suggest you post that question to:
microsoft.public.sharepoint.general
microsoft.public.sharepoint.setup_and_administration

There you should get the correct answer. Just describe in short what you
have and where you like to go to.

Best regards
