Hello,

If the machine is a Domain Controller, I don't you can do this. If the
machine is a member server, logon to the server using machine account and
right click my computer, select manage, local users and groups,

Isaac

On what Server 2003 machine? On the DC directory? That can be done using
ntdsutil. It isn't actually a "local" administrator but the Directory
Services Restore Mode-Administrator.

Cheers,

Hello ghurty@gmail.com,

If the server is a domain controller, you have not a "real" local administrator.
You can reset the password on the account used for Active directory restore
mode with ntdsutil according to this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322672

Hello ghurty@gmail.com,

You have to use "reset password on server null"

Thank you, it worked.

Where is a good place for me to read up about all these extra
utilities. As far as I know, this is not covered in MCSE.

Thanks

There are a lot of things that aren't covered in that MCSE certification ;-)
Most of those things are covered by TechNet whitepapers and sites. You get
to read them one by one when running into issues. TechNet is a good resource
for things like that - as are technical blogs.

Hello ghurty@gmail.com,

you will not find a list with all tools available. Technet is a good resource
and most of the time if you have problems you can find help here or search
google.
