    GPO's to disable software installation?

Hi, I am running a domain with several client workstations. I need to setup a GPO policy where all users must be only allowed to install specific software which are allowed through the GPO. I mean, I want to disable all of my users from being able to install Adobe Reader but allow other installations.

I know it is possible but I don’t know how to do the same. Please help.

It is not so hard to restrict users through GPO for installing any or specific third party softwares. You can get the step by step process for doing the same in this article:

Using Software Restriction Policies to Protect Against Unauthorized Software

Even Microsoft has provided a knowledge base articles describing step by step process for restrictions on Local Computer, for a domain or for an Organizational Unit or a Domain on a Domain Controller or a Workstation that has the Administration Tools Pack installed.

You can simply follow the steps provided in this KB: How To use Software Restriction Policies in Windows Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324036
