| force all users profiles on the computer
We have a 2003 Active Directory domain with XP clients. In one of our locations, we have hundreds of users that roam about who only need read-only (mandatory) profile. We'd like to accomplish something like below. Any users who logon to the computers on the first floor to get this profile as this profile has settings appropriate for this floor > //server1/profile/mandatory1 Any users who logon to the computers on the second floor to get this profile as this profile has settings appropriate for this floor > //server1/profile/mandatory2 and so on... Is there a way to accomplish this? I didn't find any group policy settings that can do this. |

Do you have a subnet per floor? AS you could create something clever around this principal. -- Mark Parris MCSE: NT4.0, 2000, 2003 MCITP: EA, SA Founder: [ADUG] UK Active Directory User Group http://adug.co.uk "gira" <gira@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:DCFD8763-3D8B-486B-9048-3393499B3C48@microsoft.com... > We have a 2003 Active Directory domain with XP clients. > In one of our locations, we have hundreds of users that roam about who > only > need read-only (mandatory) profile. > > We'd like to accomplish something like below. > Any users who logon to the computers on the first floor to get this > profile > as this profile has settings appropriate for this floor > > //server1/profile/mandatory1 > Any users who logon to the computers on the second floor to get this > profile > as this profile has settings appropriate for this floor > > //server1/profile/mandatory2 > and so on... > > Is there a way to accomplish this? Assuming that what Mark suggesting is true, you might be able to accomplish your goal by creating multiple sites - each corresponding to the individual subnet/floor. Once that is completed, set up a DFS folder with two targets, but without replication between them, and with referrals configured such that clients on a given floor will be accessing exclusively the target residing in the local site... hth Marcin "Mark Parris [ADUG]" <info@adug.co.uk> wrote in message news:O$2YuwWnJHA.4912@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Do you have a subnet per floor? > > AS you could create something clever around this principal. > > -- > Mark Parris > MCSE: NT4.0, 2000, 2003 > MCITP: EA, SA > > Founder: [ADUG] UK Active Directory User Group http://adug.co.uk > > "gira" <gira@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:DCFD8763-3D8B-486B-9048-3393499B3C48@microsoft.com... >> We have a 2003 Active Directory domain with XP clients. >> In one of our locations, we have hundreds of users that roam about who >> only >> need read-only (mandatory) profile. >> >> We'd like to accomplish something like below. >> Any users who logon to the computers on the first floor to get this >> profile >> as this profile has settings appropriate for this floor > >> //server1/profile/mandatory1 >> Any users who logon to the computers on the second floor to get this >> profile >> as this profile has settings appropriate for this floor > >> //server1/profile/mandatory2 >> and so on... >> >> Is there a way to accomplish this? Thanks guys for your inputs. Unfortunately the subnets are some what shared between floors pretty much. I wonder if there a way to accomplish this using an environmental variable or registry.
