Restoring an ADAM Instance

I have ADAM running on a member server and it is not part of a configuration
set. If I backup just the ADAM instance via NT Backup and need to restore the
instance can I just stop the ADAM instance and restore the instance to it's
original location overwriting the existing files? The doc on MS says to
install the instance again but without the directory partition. Is this step
needed if I am restoring to the exact computer and instance?

Re: Restoring an ADAM Instance

yes, stop the ADAM service and restore the instance data

installing ADAM is only required if you reinstall the server, because it
died.

be aware though that only having one ADAM instance in that configuration
set, is a risk. You should have a least 2 for redundancy purposes

In your case if you restore ADAM you will always go back in time and loose
the data/changes that were processed after the backup was created
