Office 2007 deployment with GP

Greeting and Thank you in advance...

I am trying to deploy Office Pro Plus 2007 using group policy. I can get the
software to install without any problems. What I need to do is customize the
install so it does not ask the user for any input. I have read nearly every
MS Doc on the subject and thought I followed them step by step but it doesnt
run. So here is what I did;

-> I created an install point as directed at d:\push\office12.
-> I shared the push folder and allowed everyone read access to it.
-> I copied all the files from the CD to the install point.
-> I ran OCT by entering setup /admin from the root of the office12 folder.
-> In the Licensing and User Interface menu, I entered the Product Key and
selected the radio button for Accepting the EULA.
-> I selected the option to remove previous versions of office (The previous
version was not installed using GP)
-> I saved the OCT file as Custom_Setup.mst in the update folder.
-> I went to GPMC and opened the GP I am using to deploy the software.
-> I opened the software leaf and selected New then Package
-> I pointed to the d:\push\office12\ProPlus.ww directory
-> I added the ProPlus.ww msi to the package.

-> I then rebooted a test computer and it said it was customizing the
installion
-> Then it said it was installing the Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2007 (or
something to that effect)
-> I then logged onto the test computer and the install progress dialog box
showed and and ran without my assistance.
-> When it was done, I looked at the start menu and the process did not
remove the old Office 2003 so I had icons for both.
-> When I launched Word 2007 a dialog box appeard asking for the Product Key.

I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Any help would be appreacated. I am
getting real frustrated...

Sorry for the long message.

Wayne

Wayne,
Have a look at this:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc179214.aspx
In particular, look at the section towards the end called "Applying
customizations to the Office installation".
Hope that helps,
Anthony,

Thanks for the feedback

I downloaded that document and attempted to add my volume product key to the
PID portion of the config.xml file as directed to in cc179214. I reboot the
computer, I got the message "installing managed software Office Pro Plus
2007" then I logged in and the install started and after about a minute it
prompted me for the PID. Any ideas? I can not have it asking for a PID over
and over again..

Re: Office 2007 deployment with GP

Hey Rajesh,

Can you be a little more specific? We have 3 DC's in our network and the
Deployment Server is not one of them. So are you saying I need to reboot all
the DC's & the deployment Server?
