RSOP entry point not found

Single domain Windows 2003 server environment, XP Professional SP2 clients.

We've been working lately to clean up and consolidate all our GPO's. Doing
so has shaved about a minute off our login times and the new policies appear
to be applying successfully. There's one thing in the userenv.log I'm
curious about though. In logs on all machines - both before the new policies
were implemented and after - I always see the following entries...

Rsop entry point not found for polcmncl.dll
Rsop entry point not found for gptext.dll
Rsop entry point not found for diskquota.dll
Rsop entry point not found for gptext.dll
Rsop entry point not found for iedkcs32.dll
Rsop entry point not found for scecli.dll
Rsop entry point not found for C:\WINDOWS\System32\cscui.dll
Rsop entry point not found for gptext.dll

(The "Rsop entry point not found for gptext.dll" repeats 3 times - not a typo)

These look like errors to me, but from what I can tell all the policy
settings are applying successfully to the workstations. There are no other
errors or unusual entries in the logs. Gpresult and RSOP.msc both come up
clean on the workstations and the policy settings are correct. Does anyone
know if this is a real error, or just some white noise that can be ignored?

Thanks!

Re: RSOP entry point not found

Hi Jorge,

Thanks for responding. Actually, I wasn't clear in my posting about which
logs I was refering to. I'm not getting any warning or error entries in the
event logs. The "RSOP entry point not found..." messages are in the
userenv.logs.

I've tried googling "RSOP entry point not found" but I get hundreds of hits
since lots of people have been posting their userenv.log files in various
forums. Unfortunately none of them address that message specifically.

I'm thinking since I'm not getting warnings or errors in the event logs, and
since policy settings appear to be applying successfully, that the "RSOP
entry point not found" lines in the userenv.log files are something I can
ignore. Nevertheless, it would be helpful to know exactly what's generating
the messages.

Thanks!

Re: RSOP entry point not found

Doesn't appear to be related. All the gpextensions mentioned are present in
the registry. I tried unregistering and registering the .dll's mentioned in
my original post, but the "RSOP entry point not found" lines still show up in
the userenv.log.

Since our GPO's seem to otherwise be working OK, and also due to the fact
that every userenv.log I've seen posted in all the support forums also
include the "RSOP entry point.." lines I'm going on the assumption that this
is something I can ignore.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this though.

Re: RSOP entry point not found

Hum...
I think that the errors should not appear, and these erros can have multiple
sources, the fact that the policies are applying may be not related with
that specific error.

- This happens to all workstations/servers?
- Can you start RSoP.msc
