Printing and Active Directory

Hello everyone

I am trying to figure out how I can install a set of ten logical printers
automatically, when my users log on the network. Is there a way how I can
install a printer on a server through network, and then set this printer to
each user (approx 20) when they logon the network?

Reason I want to have all logical printers installed on the server is to
have more control and to minimize some administrative effort from having to
manually install each printer for the users.

you could add printer to a user by group membership. there are many scripts for that.

i send you and url for that. See if it help you, i reccomend you to test in lab.

Attach Printers Based On Group Membership... ( Vbscript )

Assuming Windows 2003 R2 or later you can use GPO to deploy the printers.

You can also use a script, have a look at script center for script samples.

Group Policy Preferences give you decent degree of flexiblity in this area
(for both server and clients). For more info, refer to
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Windows 2003 R2 allows this via GPO

Do a live.com search there are plenty of examples

Re: Printing and Active Directory

either distribute printer connections to clients through GPOs, which is
available from w2k3 and up OR use GPO preferences which is available for XP
and 2003 and up as clients. It must be managed through the GPMC available in
either vista or 2008 or later

Re: Printing and Active Directory

I think you don't need to install 10 printers just install printer on server and send documents from clients.
