| XP Client does not create user profile on server for Roaming Profi
According to Minasi's book, when you configure roaming profiles using the profile tab in AD Users and Computers and set up the shared directory on the server, the XP client should log into the domain, see that there's no profile contained in the share, and should then load the local profile. When the XP client logs out, it's supposed to transfer that local profile up to the server in the directory specified by the profile tab in ADUandC. When I reboot my clients, the XP box tries to load the profile off t he server. Seeing none, it loads the local profile. When I reboot again, the XP box does not load this local profile up to the server. The directory stays blank. How would I troubleshoot this? The share on the server where the profile is supposed to sit can be mapped from the XP client if I do a manual map, so I don't think it's a permission issue. Further, I don't see any security issues when I audit login and logouts on the server. Thanks Chris |

Also, it is suggested to use the %username% variable when providing the profile path. See if the following link helps out. Of course it does not give you everything a Roaming Profile provides, but it is much faster loading reducing logon times, as well as other advantages. You also have central control configuring them using a Group Policy. Here is a link on the features. I can provide more info regarding configuring them, if you are interested. | XP Client does not create user profile on server for Roaming Profile
Chris, any errors in the Application log or Userenv.log on the clients that exhibit this behavior? Any chance that http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911805 or http://support.microsoft.com/kb/897101 applies in this case? hth Marcin "ChrisParker02134" <ChrisParker02134@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1C889278-643B-415C-B9ED-447CEC91EF92@microsoft.com... > According to Minasi's book, when you configure roaming profiles using the > profile tab in AD Users and Computers and set up the shared directory on > the > server, the XP client should log into the domain, see that there's no > profile > contained in the share, and should then load the local profile. Hi Remember to check permissions on that share so the user can create and upload the profile into that directory. Additionally you may want to enable the Userenv log. Check what errors do you have in eventlog. -- I hope that the information above helps you. Have a Nice day.
