dcpromo Overlapped I/O operation is in progress

I have some problem with DCPromo to install on 2 Dell Server PC. Both servers are running Windows 2003 and have had all of the dell management software removed also using the most upto date firmware and hardware and hardware for the Raid Controller. If I am running DCPromo, then it stops the NET logon service then gives the error "Overlapped I/O operation is in progress". Can anyone tell me how to solve this issue? Thanks.

Can you tell us what else have you got on this server? Is this a new server? It looks like your Virus Scan or something running in the background.

Are there any kind of errors if you have just stop the Netlogon service, out of the DCPromo process?

Can you tell us what kind of error is logged in the %SystemRoot%\Debug\DCPromo.log debug log? You will need to provide error line and a few preceding lines from your log file. Thanks. Can you also provide net start output from the affected server.

You can try to disable the below services and then restart and run DCPromo again. If it is still failing with the same error, then it is probably a File Filter Driver that has been installed, which will make it harder to troubleshoot:

    DSM SA Connection Service
    DSM SA Data Manager
    DSM SA Event Manager
    DSM SA Shared Services
    File Server Resource Manager
    Retrospect Client
    VNC Server

    HI

I had had a similar issue.
The reason of that problem is your antivirus software.
You must exclude system directory in your antivirus software.
